DESCRIPTION:In this new phase of the pandemic\, ERUUF is positioning itself
  to meet the needs of congregants now and in the post-pandemic future. We’
 d like to invite all ERUUFians to come hear about an exciting new audio-vi
 sual project planned for this summer. This project\, comprising a projecto
 r\, a large retractable screen and a new sound system\, will address all o
 f the sound issues in the sanctuary\, making it fully hearing accessible. 
 It will also increase our capacity to reach beyond our walls. In addition\
 , it will help us remain current in an environment where most other large 
 congregations have such systems.\nThe new AV system will result in:\n\nAn 
 enhanced worship experience for both in-person and livestream viewers incl
 uding people with hearing impairments\nIncreased capacity for the communit
 y we are and hope to become by expanding our reach and ensuring equitable 
 access\nAn attractive feature to offer future renters of the space\nA posi
 tive environmental impact and cost savings due to the elimination of the p
 aper bulletin and the ability to hear from guest speakers and musicians in
  other locations without having to bring them to us\n\nCost\nFor more than
  seven years\, worship and music leaders have researched various sound and
  projection systems\, and are confident that this is the best possible opt
 ion. They note that the cost of the project has increased over time\, and 
 it’s clear that this upgrade to our sanctuary won’t become less expensive 
 in the future. After many conversations\, extensive research\, and careful
  negotiations\, the project is expected to cost up to $155K in total. The 
 Eno River Fellowship Foundation has generously committed $20K to the effor
 t\, and the board has approved the remaining expenditure.\nFunding\nTwo op
 tions are being considered for funding this project: the use of reserves a
 nd/or a short-term loan. These options have been discussed with both the b
 oard and the board’s\nfinance committee. The advantage of a loan is that i
 t would take the pressure off our reserves at a time when ERUUF needs them
  to maintain staffing and programming until we fully recover from the impa
 ct of the pandemic. With interest rates as low as they are\, a loan to fin
 ance this project would cost ERUUF very little\, and it could be paid off 
 early if things turn around faster than expected.\nQuestions?\nThe timelin
 e for this project is fairly short since we hope to have the system in pla
 ce this fall when some of our members return to in-person worship. With th
