Durham CAN General Meeting and Training
WHAT: Durham CAN General Meeting and Jobs Equipping Session - This is a great meeting to learn about Durham CAN, how it works and what it accomplishes. Any ERUUFian interested in learning more about CAN or wanting to get more involved with CAN should attend!
WHEN: Saturday, January 27, 2018 -- 10am to 1pm
WHERE: ERUUF ( 4907 Garrett Road)
WHO: A team of at least 5 leaders from each institution (clergy and lay leaders)
WHY: Last year more than 612 leaders packed the Sanctuary of Mount Level Missionary Baptist Church to hold the Mayoral/Council candidates accountable for working with CAN on jobs for youth/returning citizens & affordable housing.
During the same action CAN pledged to launch a series of public conversations with private employers about jobs. We proposed that together we listen to the frustrations and aspirations of at least 1,000 returning citizens, unemployed, or underemployed residents in Durham.
Join us as we develop a shared vision for 2018. Together we want to:
1) Prepare for a working retreat with newly elected Mayor and City Council
2) Develop joint agreements & get training on how to implement a listening session inside your institution and the community
