Kudos to all who helped create a wonderful service last Sunday featuring some of ERUUF's musical groups. Next year, our new Music Director will be organizing that effort! In fact, the ministers plan to be able to announce the new Music Director by March 31.
Why is this taking so long, you ask? Well, we want to ensure that we reach as diverse a pool of candidates as possible. To that end, we decided to continue to actively advertise the position until January 31, knowing that professional moves within UU circles often are initiated at the start of the calendar year. Applications will be accepted until February 7, at which time we will have advertised within the UUA, the Association of UU Music Ministries, and a long list of other institutions for 5 months, and with the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA) for 3 months.
Our committee continues with our networking efforts and encourages members to do the same. See the job description here. We recently upgraded our advertising with the ACDA so that the job description is now emailed to over 1,000 choral directors twice a month.
The committee has been very busy over the past month. We’ve prepared evaluation rubrics, processes for narrowing the candidate pool, interview questions, reference check questions, case studies, timelines, and more. We stand ready to switch into high gear during the upcoming busy stage of continued assessment and interviews. Stay tuned for another update in January. Our best wishes for good holidays!
