The Genuine
Rev. Deborah Cayer
Music: Zoe Mulford

In a commencement address to Spellman College graduates in 1980, Howard Thurman said, ““There is in you something that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself.  It is the only true guide you will ever have.” How do we discover what’s genuine in ourself?  And when we do, then what happens?

Rev. Deborah Cayer, worship leader.  Michael Field, Worship Associate.

Our guest musician this morning is Zoe Mulford, who got her start while living in the Triangle, playing at local venues including ERUUF. Since then, she has released five albums and established herself as a contemporary writer with deep roots in traditional music. In 2018, Joan Baez covered her song "The President Sang Amazing Grace." The song was voted Song of the Year by Folk Alliance International and was published in 2019 as a book, illustrated by Jeff Scher.
