????️RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for the first RE class of 2026! They began the January theme of the month, practicing resistance.

The PreK/Kindergarten class started the class by playing a fun game and introducing themselves to the class. Then, they read the book Elmer the Patchwork Elephant by David McKee, decorated socks, and enjoyed playing outside together!

The 1st - 5th graders began the class by lighting the chalice and singing a song. Then, they discussed what resistance means, and listened to the wisdom story “Taming the Monkey Mind”. Afterwards, they broke into groups based on interest. The activity group made art with their breath by blowing drops of paint across paper, while the game group played a mindful version of tag on the playground.

Middle School RE started the class by sharing about their winter break and playing a belonging game. Then, they had a discussion and played a game about redefining what “cool” means.

Middle School Youth Groups had taquitos and snacks for lunch. Afterwards, Middle School played some new games, including a whacky relay with Orbeez. High School went outside for a New Year ritual before roasting marshmallows over the fire pit.
