Spirit that invites upon me
Love and deep peace,

I pray for the numbers that are
Ever on my mind
Ever in my dreams
Numbers imprinted in walls
Symbols painted on the foreheads of colleagues
And tumbling from the utterances
Of those speaking in tongues.

I pray for my dear associates
Working late into the night
Tapping on keyboards
Confirming results across
Cell lines and
Internet fiber
Then checking yet again
Until finally saying,
Thank you.
It is done for now
We need to sleep.

And then the dreaming.

Or the not sleeping
And not dreaming
But incessant thinking
What else do we need to address
In this?
Who is missing
from this?

I ask for guidance in
Right decision-making
In the love that fills my heart to
Bring good to those in community
I have been given to steward,
As Shepherdess,
the woman in Honduras said
With reverence.

I pray to do what is right
Upon these people
And upon those who give
And those who cannot give

And their music making
And their prayers
And their joys
And their fears
And their children
And this land and these buildings
And all the Beings here among
And within it all
And those beyond it all
Interdependent lives
Calling out to us so.

Guide our hearts
Guide our thinking
For the well-being of all Beings.

And when it is done
I pray for your deepest peace
And deepest rest
And the sure knowledge
Clarity of heart
Restful conscience
That it is done
Because we have done
All that we could do.
