Beginning Our Repair: Community Meditations

Beginning Our Repair: Community Meditations

As we move deeper into this time of anxiousness, stress, and fear, may we embrace the shift of daylight to a cocoon of more dark, where there might be repair in the place where seeds grow.

And my oh my, is repair ever needed in so many places these days: within ourselves, among our families and friends, our wider communities, and certainly throughout our nation. And also, if we dare to consider it, with our ancestors -- whether those of familial relation or others who have touched our lives in one way or another, for good or ill. All those we've inherited our structural systems, wounds, beliefs, and ways of being from.

During our worship services this past Sunday, we opened our hearts into the co-creation of a community meditation, engaging a process developed by the Rev. Beckett Coppola. It invited us into a beautiful communal practice of listening, giving, receiving, and creating space for resilience. And in this way, beginning the first stitches of repair amongst and within ourselves.

Sunday, October 27 Community Meditation, 9:00 am

Spirit of love weaving it’s way amongst us,
From across a cavernous void I hear
the rustle of trees,
the laughter and joy of children,
the singing of the people
in praise and lamentation.
With footsteps on the stones
we find a path forward.

Sunday, October 27 Community Meditation, 11:00 am

Spirit of love weaving it’s way amongst us,
From across a cavernous void I hear
Hello,
Peace of loving care.

The calling of people suffering now and the
calling of my ancestors.

Music.
We will listen collectively and individually:
I hear the joy of joining and belonging,
I hear love flowing,
I hear connection to one another,
I hear a cry for help from the Earth,
I hear a voice say, “You are safe, it is okay.”

The only battle worth waging is for peace.
Growing old is very strenuous,
There is a distinction between hearing and listening,
A yearning for commonality,
The whisper only the heart can hear.

I hear the breathing of all beings,
I hear the web of life that connects us all,
Lovingkindness,
I hear the collective quiet of listening,
I hear a desire for deeper, more authentic relationships.
Out here in the ethers, I feel this invitation.

Amen. Ashe. May it all be so.

Palms together,
Rev. Jacqueline
