Message from UU Justice NC about ICE & Border Patrol Presence in North Carolina

ICE Border PatrolIn this moment of ongoing ICE & Border Patrol presence in Charlotte and the credible reports of escalated activity in the Triangle, may we be reminding of two key community solidarity principles.

Do not spread rumors that you may hear through word of mouth or on social media. While it may seem like assisting, sharing unverified reports of ICE or Border Patrol can cause panic and spread trained response resources thin. Check Siembra NC's social media, trusted news agencies, or local government statements to stay up to date.

Unless you have gone through a training with a partner (i.e. Siembra NC) or an occupation (i.e. Public Schools), do not directly approach a suspicious situation. If you see someone you suspect may be ICE or Border Patrol, call the Siembra NC hotline at 336-543-0353. They will send a trained verifier to the location.

Our collective safety arises through a strategic community response, coordinated by trusted partners. A mindful disposition to act instead of react is a necessary element. We can build that culture each and every day, but it matters most in days like these.
