Mark your calendars for something new and different! This fall, in an effort to provide high-quality Sunday services and lighten the load on volunteers and staff, ERUUF and the UU congregation of Richmond, Virginia have agreed to a series of online Sunday service exchanges.

The first exchange is scheduled for late October. On October 24, ERUUF will offer our usual Sunday service, and our UU friends in Richmond will join us online. On October 31, Richmond will lead the service and all of us from ERUUF are invited to attend their online service. No worries! We’ll set up links so that we all get to the right place on the right dates.

It’s always fascinating to learn how other UUs do things, and ERUUF and Richmond have a history of leadership exchanges going back ten years or more. Both congregations have strong commitments to racial justice, equity, and inclusion.  And while the congregations are about the same size, we’ve discovered that we’re each good at different things, so we’ve learned a lot from each other. It also helps that the ministers share great friendships.

Other exchanges are planned for November and December. We hope you’ll join us this fall as we strengthen the bonds of Unitarian Universalism in our Southern region, and help each other navigate the pandemic with this exchange with the Richmond congregation.
