Unitarian Universalism proclaims that each of us is worthy of love just as we are—whatever our identities, whatever our backgrounds, whatever our mistakes. This proclamation is life-saving in a society that blames, shames, isolates, dehumanizes and punishes so many. Our faith can give people needed courage as we work together to dismantle the interconnected systems that destroy life.
Rev. Dr. Michael Tino (they/them) is the co-Lead Minister of the Church of the Larger Fellowship, the Unitarian Universalist congregation without borders or walls.
Michael was introduced to Unitarian Universalism right here at ERUUF in 1993, and served as ERUUF’s Coordinator of Shared Ministry from 1998-2001. Their more than two decades of ministry have taken them from Durham to UUA Headquarters and then to Mount Kisco, NY, where they served for 15 years as the minister of our sibling congregation there. At CLF, Michael serves a large and diverse congregation that includes some 2,000 incarcerated Unitarian Universalists. They live in Peekskill, NY with their husband, Eric, and daughter, Nora. Michael is thrilled to be returning “home” today.
