This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to continue the May theme of the month, awakening curiosity.

The PreK/K group started class by playing a fun imagination game and introducing themselves to the class. Then, they learned about the importance of imagination and curiosity and how they can be a bridge to a more exciting world. They also read the book Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson, and made some fun drawings.

The 1st - 5th grade class also learned about how curiosity can be a bridge to a more exciting world. They learned a new song, read the book Journey by Aaron Becker, and discussed all of their exciting ideas and imagination. Then they broke into small groups by grade level and made popsicle stick bridges that connected some things they know, to something they don’t know (and thought of some creative solutions).

The 6th - 8th grade RE class gathered to learn about how curiosity can be a bridge to a more exciting world. They played a fun game of fortunately, unfortunately, discussed science fiction and nature facts, and debated about the future being exciting or scary!

Middle School Youth Group went on their final outing of the year: a picnic hangout and scavenger hunt at Duke Gardens. Despite the shocking heat, the group of 9 youth enjoyed snacking and playing (in the shade as much as possible) before splitting into small groups for a timed scavenger hunt. They were provided a list of structures from around the gardens, then the team that saw the most (and took pictures of the most birds) won a prize.

High School Youth Group had lunch, then chatted with the advisors before heading off!
