The newest addition to our landscaping, the rock stream garden was installed in 2024 to provide more visual interest when walking into the plaza and to prevent erosion from rain water runoff. Native plants are the stars of this garden. Volunteers help keep the garden free of weeds, branches and pine cones.
Have you noticed the beautiful cascading rocks and native plants that were installed by the entry sidewalk to the plaza in 2024? The goal is to control the runoff from the paved parking lot and stop erosion of the hillside. Plans for the project took shape under the leadership of Beth Harvat and with the expert advice of member John Wood, a landscape architect. With funding from the ERUUF Foundation, the work was contracted with Tributary Landscaping and Design, who also landscaped our front entryway.
The garden is planted in native plants including several Carex varieties, Autumn and Korean Rock Ferns, White wood aster, 'Blueberry Muffin' Ajuga, Lizard Tail, cardinal flower, Lamium 'White Nancy", and Sea Oats. Volunteers do the maintenance - mostly keeping the garden free of weeds, branches and pine cones. Plants are growing well and will continue to fill in this area.
