Update for RE for week of 08/02/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for a music-filled Summer RE! They started the class by introducing themselves and sharing a song that they like. Then, they discussed the connection between music and community, then learned a few songs. The songs had a lot of accompanying movement, and the lyrics were related to UU values. The children and youth enjoyed using instruments, and had a lot of fun with the parachute outside! Thank you to Pam DiLavore and Kristi Chilton for leading the RE class this week!

The children's choirs will resume on September 20th! New singers are welcome at any time! For Sunshine Kids (grades K-2), reach out to Kristi (). For Chalice Singers (grades 3-8), reach out to Pam (). 

Update for RE for week of 07/26/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to learn about the UU value of love. They began the class by playing Simon Says, and introducing themselves to the class. Then, they read the book The Paper Party by Don Freeman. After discussing the story, they made puppets! The children and youth used felt, glue, buttons, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, and pom poms to make their own puppets! Their puppets will be displayed in the sanctuary gallery soon.

Update for RE for week of 07/19/2026

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to learn about the UU value of interdependence. They discussed the meaning of interdependence, and introduced themselves to the class by sharing their favorite part of summer so far. We loved learning about what everyone has been up to! Then, they did multiple different building activities: Jenga towers, foam masterpieces, and (uncooked) spaghetti and marshmallow towers. After class was over, they each enjoyed a giant marshmallow on the playground.

Update for RE for week of 07/12/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to learn about our UU Value of transformation! They introduced themselves to the class, and shared their favorite sport (answers were quite diverse! Soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball…). Then, they split into groups based on interest. One group played (indoor) mini golf, while the other group decorated ball caps! It was a lot of fun, and all the children and youth enjoyed the air conditioning (and popsicles after RE, of course!).

Update for RE for week of 07/05/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for the annual Horse Visit! After a safety briefing and discussion of our favorite farm animals, we split into two groups. One group visited Dexter the horse, while the other stayed indoors to learn more about horses and work on horse-related activity sheets. After 15 minutes, the groups switched. Thank you so much to Amy Wilson-Stronks for teaching us about horses, and bringing so much joy to Summer RE every year!

Update for RE for week of 06/28/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for a long RE class! They started the class by playing a fun game to get to know each other, then they shared their name and their favorite thing to build! Then, they read the book Henry Builds a Cabin by D. B. Johnson. Their activity today was building blanket forts, and they made some pretty creative ones! There was one huge fort, and four small ones. Everyone enjoyed decorating the forts with string lights and fun blankets. When service started wrapping up, the children and youth enjoyed popsicles and playing on the playground! 

We are so excited for the RE Horse Visit on Sunday! Families - please arrive by 9:45am to fill out permission slips. Children, youth, and adults - please wear closed toed shoes if you plan on visiting Dexter and his goat friends! 

Update for RE for week of 06/21/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to celebrate Juneteenth! They began by listening to Opal Lee and What It Means to Be Free during the service.

During RE time, they played freeze dance and talked about the meaning of Juneteenth. They also made Juneteenth scratch art and flags, spent time on the playground, and ended by enjoying red fruit punch together.

Update for RE for week of 06/14/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for the start of summer RE! This week, the children and youth made chalice artwork. They got messy making marbled paintings and put on their creative hats to make Lego chalices. Afterward, they enjoyed the hot day on the playground and had some popsicles.

High School Youth Group met on Sunday for snacks, smoothies, and lots of time to build community!

Update for RE for week of 06/07/2026

RENews:

This past Sunday, children and youth gathered for the final RE class of this year! Summer RE will begin next week.

The PreK/K class gathered to celebrate the end of the RE year and reflect on the activities, friends, and volunteers who were part of their experience. They made thank‑you letters and helped decorate a large letter that will be displayed in the sanctuary.

The 1st–5th graders began class by singing the song of the month: “Where Do We Come From.” They also talked about their RE year—what they enjoyed and the new people they met. Like the younger group, they made thank‑you notes for RE volunteers and decorated a letter for the sanctuary art gallery display.

The Middle School RE group learned about how curiosity is a bridge to a world with wiser people. They started the class by playing a game that tested their knowledge, and using Tarot Cards to tell creative stories. They also played various games centered around wisdom and teamwork.

Summer RE Volunteers Needed

Summer RE is rapidly approaching, and we are looking for a team of 10-15 volunteers to help assist on Sundays between 9:30-11:30 AM. You’ll get to learn and play with children of all ages, enjoy fun Summer Camp themed programming, and choose Sundays that work for your schedule. Even if you can only make one session, we would love to have you! Plus, there is no preparation required — just show up ready to help.
